TikTok setting
TikTok's Background audio button, explained
Press and hold on a video. If your account has it, Background audio appears in that menu, near Picture-in-Picture; turning it on lets that one video keep making sound after you leave TikTok.
TikTok has been testing the option rather than giving it to everyone, so many accounts simply do not have it, and it can come and go between app versions.
See it work
Link in, sound starts, screen off — 45 seconds, muted recording.
If you can't find it
Update TikTok, then press and hold again. If it still is not there, it has not reached your account; there is no hidden switch in Settings that adds it. Some people also find it under Share, in the row of extra options.
What it does not do
It covers the video you are watching, not a playlist: it will not loop one sound for an hour, line several sounds up, or keep a sound you liked for later. That is what LoopRush is for — paste the link below and the sound plays on its own, screen off, with repeat.
Common questions
- Where is Background audio on TikTok?
- In the press-and-hold menu on a video, when your account has the feature.
- Why don't I have it?
- TikTok is rolling it out gradually; it is not available to every account or every app version.
- Can Background audio loop a sound?
- No. It keeps the current video's sound going, nothing more.
