Keep a reel's audio playing when you leave Instagram

Paste the reel's link into the box below and LoopRush keeps its sound playing while you use other apps or lock the phone, with the usual controls on the lock screen.

Public TikTok, Instagram and Facebook posts. You hear the audio here; the original post is still there if you want to watch it.

Instagram pauses reels as soon as it is not on screen and has no setting to change that. LoopRush works outside Instagram: it takes the audio from a public reel and plays it the way a music app would.

See it work

Reel link in, audio on, screen off — 38 seconds, muted recording.

Getting the link

  1. In Instagram, tap the paper-plane icon under the reel.
  2. Choose Copy link.
  3. Paste it on looprush.xyz in Safari or Chrome. The sound starts on its own.

Which links work

Links to public reels and public video posts work, including the short links Instagram's share menu creates. Profiles, stories, photo-only posts and anything from a private account cannot be opened — Instagram does not show those to anyone who is not signed in, and LoopRush never asks for your Instagram login.

On a computer

Copy the address of the reel from instagram.com and paste it here in any browser. It keeps playing when you switch tabs, and the keyboard's media keys pause and skip.

Mixing apps

A stack does not care where a sound came from. Reels, TikToks and Facebook videos can sit in the same stack and play in order, which is handy for a workout or study set collected from several apps.

Common questions

Does Instagram have a background play setting?
No. There is no audio-only or background option for reels on iPhone or Android.
Do I need an Instagram account?
No. Public reels open without one, and LoopRush never asks for your Instagram details.
Why won't a particular reel open?
It is private, deleted, a photo post, or limited by Instagram to certain audiences. None of those can be opened from outside the app.
Will it keep playing when the screen turns off?
Yes, that is the point of it: the lock screen shows the track with play, pause and skip.
